All teachers have different philosophies about how to organize groups of students for reading instruction. Many create three groups much like they experienced during their own schooling days. However, there are recognized difficulties with grouping students in these ways. You can read what I had to say about my experiences in the article, Grouping Students for Reading Instruction.

However, I’d like to know about your experiences. Do you struggle with knowing how to divide students and work with them effectively? What has worked for you?
